Hyd-Mech Experiences Two-year Record High Sales in First Quarter
Woodstock, ON (May, 2011) – Hyd-Mech Group Ltd., the world’s leader in metal band saw and circular cold saw technology, has recently experienced a two-year record high order boom with sales surging 65% over the first quarter of 2010.
As the economy slowly recovers, the Canadian market for band saw and circular cold saw technology remains strong. Government stimulus money from 2009-10 is making its way to the nation’s metal fabrication shops, which are increasing production and using Hyd-Mech products to get the job done.
“We’ve noticed a good, steady increase of business within the Canadian market, and south of the border too,” said Rick Arcaro, National Sales Manager, Hyd-Mech Group Ltd. “Both Canadian and US metal and fabrication industries are growing and we’re experiencing demands for our products and services that we haven’t seen in awhile. It’s a nice change,” Arcaro adds. In the US, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association has reported a 118.6% increase of manufacturing technology consumption for 2011’s first quarter over last year’s.
“Our products, particularly band saws, are literally flying out of the factory,” says Mike Miller, COO, Hyd-Mech Group Ltd. “As metal cutting and fabrication customers look for more efficient ways to do business, they are searching for reliable machines with low operating costs, and they are finding the solution lies with Hyd-Mech machines,” Miller adds. The recent demand on Hyd-Mech’s products has meant that the company has stepped up production. “Our factories are very busy; we’ve brought employees back to work and started hiring,” says Miller.
Since the start of 2011, Hyd-Mech has been striving to meet the demands of its customers and dealers alike by increasing its workforce 17% and adding a second shift to its production. And it seems the ramping up will continue! Throughout June and into July the company is expected to further increase its workforce to continue producing Hyd-Mech band saws.
“We are number one in the industry for a reason,” William Giacometti, CEO, states. “Our products are easy-to-use, have first quality cuts, are very reliable, and have a high resale value. The demand for our large horizontal cutting band saws has never been stronger, and we’re anticipating fourth quarter orders will be even higher. Right now we’re doing everything we can to meet the current demands and get ahead of what will come later in the year when customers take advantage of lucrative tax write offs.”
